CHICAGO – In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the RTA is making several changes to the services it offers riders in the region.

RTA customer service offices are closed as of Monday, March 16, until further notice. Please do not travel to any of these sites for assistance. The RTA staff will work remotely and help is available by phone for the programs described below.

  • To apply for the Reduced Fare or Ride Free programs, visit the RTA website and download an application. For help applying, to renew a permit that expires soon, or to replace a lost or stolen permit, call (312) 913-3110.
  • The RTA Travel Training program is temporarily canceling all scheduled sessions with customers. Travel Trainers will reach out to cancel individual appointments and provide rescheduling information. For questions, please call the RTA’s Mobility Services Helpline at (312) 663-HELP (4357).
  • The ADA Paratransit Certification Program is suspending all interviews and assessments for ADA paratransit eligibility until further notice, as the RTA’s South and Northwest Chicago Mobility Assessment Centers are closed. A representative will be contacting all customers who have currently scheduled appointments. For more information or to ask any additional questions, please call the RTA’s Mobility Services Helpline at 312-663-HELP (4357).

The RTA has also canceled its March Board meeting, scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 19. The RTA Board of Directors is next scheduled to meet on Thursday, April 16.

“The RTA’s top priority is the health and safety of agency employees, customers, contractors, and vendors,” said Leanne Redden, RTA Executive Director. “We remind everyone to follow the advice of the Chicago Department of Public Health, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Please visit CTA, Metra, and Pace websites for specific information about those transit agencies' services.”
