Talking the Future of Transit with CTA, Metra and Pace
August 1, 2018
Yesterday, I joined CTA President Dorval Carter Metra CEO Jim Derwinski, and Executive Director of Pace T.J. Ross for a great roundtable discussion hosted by the Metropolitan Planning Council about the future of transit in our region.
Our transportation system is at a crossroads: We need significant ongoing investment to keep pace with maintenance needs as documented in our Invest in Transit plan for the region, and we need to grapple with and plan for an uncertain future, including new transportation providers entering the market, the availability of real-time data for users, and autonomous vehicles.
