This week marks a special occasion for many students: school’s out! The best way to spend summer is to be outside and explore the great experiences our region has to offer. How do you go about that? Ride transit!
Here’s what CTA, Metra and Pace are doing to make exploring easy on mom and dad’s wallets:
Metra
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, up to three children age 11 and under can ride free with a fare-paying adult.
CTA
Children from ages 7 to 11 are eligible for a reduced fare during the summer Children under the age of 7 ride free with a fare-paying customer.
Pace
Pace offers a reduced rate to high school and younger students. In order to take advantage of this reduced fare, students will need to obtain a Student Ventra Card with the student entitlement.
Once students have their Card, they have several options. They can load directly to their account the Pace 30-Day Reduced Fare Pass that offers unlimited rides without school-hour restrictions, or simply add transit value to pay a reduced fare per ride during the school year.
