Take “Pride” in Your Public Transportation System

Chicago’s 48th Annual Pride Parade takes place on Sunday, June 25th and kicks off at Montrose & Broadway at noon. Crowd estimates each year are in the hundreds of thousands, and this year is no exception. With various street closures and massive crowds, traffic will surely be an issue.
But we have a solution: public transportation!
With the help of parade organizers, the CTA and Metra, here are some tips to getting around the area that day.

Extra trains will be provided by Metra on the BNSF Line from Aurora, the Union Pacific North Line from Kenosha, the Union Pacific Northwest Line from Harvard and the Union Pacific West Line from Elburn. Extra seating capacity will be made available on all other lines. The parade route is easily accessible through CTA connections from all five downtown Chicago train stations: Chicago Union Station, Ogilvie Transportation Center, Millennium Station, Van Buren Street Station and LaSalle Street Station.
The CTA will be providing extra service and longer trains on the 'L' to accommodate the large numbers of people who attend the parade. You can access the parade from several CTA stations, including Wilson and Sheridan. The Red and Brown Lines provide the closest service to the parade route with fast, frequent service:
