The RTA, CTA, Metra and Pace are encouraging residents to ‘Dump the Pump’ tomorrow and take public transportation. Whether you’re a first time or veteran transit rider, join the RTA and hundreds of transit agencies across the nation who will encourage residents to leave their cars at home and take public transportation. And, if you show us how you “dumped the pump,” you can enter for a chance to win some awesome prizes!
It’s simple! All you have to do is upload photos of yourself riding on CTA, Metra or Pace to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages, along with hashtags #DTPChi or #DumpThePumpSweeps, and you will be automatically entered into a drawing to win great prizes. Rules allow only one raffle entry per rider but feel free to upload as many photos of you riding our region’s transit system as you’d like. Pictures will be accepted until the end of Dump the Pump Day on June 16.
This is the 11th annual Dump the Pump Day, a national initiative sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association that encourages everyone to leave their cars behind and take public transportation on the third Thursday in June each year.
The excitement for Dump the Pump Day is traveling quickly as several municipalities and organizations have jumped “on board” to remind their constituents, colleagues and members to take transit on Thursday. These organizations are so committed to this initiative that they’ve adopted resolutions in honor of Dump the Pump Day! Thanks go to: Northwest Municipal Conference and South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association.
Help spread the word about Dump the Pump. Remember, with each ride, commuters contribute to the regional economy, help preserve our environment and save time and money.
