The RTA, in cooperation with the Service Boards and CMAP, have released the Setting the Stage for Transit guide as a resource for municipal officials looking to make their communities more transit-friendly. Local communities without existing service can be proactive in creating an environment conducive to transit by conducting transit supportive planning and considering local financial investments to transit service. Communities with existing service can make themselves more competitive for increased transit service by planning for development that has sufficient densities and a mix of land uses to support more riders and create a demand for new service
