RTA announces new Board member Liz Gorman

July 14, 2021

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) announces the appointment of Elizabeth “Liz” Doody Gorman as its newest Board member, representing suburban Cook County. Director Gorman replaces Director John V. Frega, who served on the board with distinction for 10 years.

“Director Gorman’s accomplishments in public service and transportation are extensive,” said RTA Chairman Kirk Dillard. “On behalf of the RTA, we are pleased to have her join our Board as the Chicago region — like every other region across the nation — continues to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic while grappling with its long-term impacts.”

“It’s a privilege to serve our region in this capacity at such a pivotal moment for public transportation,” said Director Gorman. “As the RTA embarks on development of its new strategic plan for regional transit, the Board and staff are uniquely situated to work with the CTA, Metra, and Pace in sustaining their services, which proved so critical to residents and our economy during the pandemic.”

Director Gorman is Regional Business Leader for NORESCO, among the largest U.S. energy services companies. She formerly served as Executive Director of the Illinois Tollway (2018-19) and as a Cook County Commissioner (2002-15). A native of Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood and graduate of Mother McAuley High School, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, followed by a Master’s of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame.
