The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) announces the appointment of Ryan S. Higgins as its newest board member, representing suburban Cook County.
“We are pleased to have Mr. Higgins join the Board,” said Kirk Dillard, RTA Board Chairman. “Mr. Higgins grew up in the RTA region and chose to return here to pursue his legal career and become involved in the northwest suburban community and region as a whole. I am sure his understanding of our regional transit system and the six counties served by the RTA and Service Boards will make him a wonderful addition to our board.”
Mr. Higgins is a partner of the law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he focuses his legal practice on representing hospitals, health systems, private equity firms and platform companies, and other health care organizations in corporate and transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and management arrangements. He serves on the firm’s pro bono committee, devoting a significant portion of his practice to pro bono matters for suburban not-for-profit organizations and low-income individuals and families.
Mr. Higgins earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Dartmouth College, where he minored in Genetics, Cell, and Developmental Biology, and a Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Higgins was editor-in-chief of a law journal, publishing the first and second largest journals in the history of the law school. A life-long resident of the northwest suburbs, Mr. Higgins resides in Schaumburg.
