Illinois Transportation Agencies to Host 17th Annual Transportation Symposium & Business Exchange

Northeastern Illinois transportation agencies will host the 17th annual Transportation Symposium and Business Exchange for businesses, particularly contractors, professional services firms, manufacturers and suppliers, interested in learning valuable information on how to do business with transit-related agencies. Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) are encouraged to attend.

The symposium, sponsored by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, Pace, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and Illinois Tollway Authority will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Chicago Hilton & Towers, 720 S. Michigan Avenue, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Highlights of this year’s Symposium & Business Exchange include the following:

  • Business & Ethical Values seminar from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, with featured speaker, Colette Holt, an expert attorney who provides legal counsel and consulting services to government agencies and businesses on procurement, contracting and regulatory compliance.
  • NEW: Luncheon with keynote speaker Ralph G. Moore, President of RGMA from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. He is an expert in the area of minority and women business development, and he will share with business owners and DBEs his personal success story, his experience in doing business with governmental agencies, and the role of minority entrepreneurship.
  • How to Do Business with Transportation Agencies (RTA, CTA, Metra, Pace, IDOT and Illinois Tollway) seminar from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm will provide attendees an overview of the procurement process.
  • Business Forum & Networking Reception from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. will give registrants an opportunity to network with sponsoring transportation agencies to become familiar with contracting opportunities and supplier needs. Additionally, there will be exhibitors from major companies exploring partnership and subcontracting participation.

Symposium registration fees are as follows:

Pre-registration

  • $75 per person – Symposium Seminars & Networking Reception Only
  • $125 per person – Symposium Seminars, Keynote Speaker Luncheon & Networking Reception

On-site registration

  • $100 per person – Symposium Seminars & Networking Reception Only
  • $150 per person – Symposium Seminars, Keynote Speaker Luncheon & Networking Reception
