The RTA, CTA, Metra and Pace offer various Discounted Fare Programs to help reduce the cost of transit expenses for eligible seniors, persons with disabilities, Medicare card holders, and military personnel. Visit the following links to learn about eligibility requirements.
- Reduced Fare Permits allow seniors and persons with qualifying disabilities to ride at a reduced rate on CTA, Metra, and Pace buses and trains.
- Ride Free Permits allow older adults and people with disabilities who are enrolled in the Illinois Department on Aging’s Benefit Access program to ride free on CTA, Metra, and Pace fixed-route services.
- Military Service Fares provide qualifying military personnel with free or reduced fare rides on CTA, Metra, and Pace fixed-route services.
Starting in January 2022, riders can apply for RTA Reduced Fare and Ride Free Permits on the Fare Programs Online portal at Fares.RTAChicago.org.
