The Ad Hoc Committee on Transit Funding was formed by the RTA Board of Directors in July 2025 to consider issues relating to the 2025 and 2026 transit funding crisis facing the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, and Pace. Find materials on the Meeting Materials page.
The Ad Hoc Committee on Transit Funding consists of seven members, including at least two RTA Directors residing in the City of Chicago, two residing in Cook County outside of the City of Chicago, and two residing in one or more of the counties of DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry or Will. Alternates may also be named to the Committee, and all RTA Board members are invited to join the meetings and participate. The Committee Chairperson shall be the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kirk Dillard.
The Committee Chairperson will invite the Chairs of the CTA, Metra, and Pace boards (or their designees) to attend the Committee meetings as advisory members.

The duties and responsibilities of the Committee include:
1. Assess the current fiscal crisis/cliff facing the RTA, CTA, Metra and Pace.
2. Identify potential solutions to the fiscal crisis.
3. Recommend courses of action to mitigate the crisis.
4. Take up such other matters as may be referred to it by the Board of Directors or the Chairman.
The Committee shall meet at the RTA's office (175 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago) at the discretion of the Committee Chairperson.
The first meeting of the Committee will be July 24, 2025 following the RTA Board Meeting.
