Bus Rapid Transit

We want to keep our riders moving quickly and safely to their destinations. Learn more about the RTA’s study of bus rapid transit (BRT) and how it is being incorporated in our region.

RTAMS

Explore the RTA’s web-based data warehouse, Regional Transportation Asset Management System (RTAMS), to search and cross-reference various data sets. There is even an interactive map containing over 30 spatial data layers and aerial photography.

Technology

Technological innovations fuel our progress. Our latest launch is our multi-modal online trip planner called “goroo.” Explore goroo and all our active Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects. As always, our mission is to improve the quality and efficiency of public transportation in the region.

Land Use/Transit Oriented Development

The RTA’s Local Planning and Programs Division has developed and implemented several initiatives, technical studies and policies to foster sustainable and livable communities that enhance multi-modal transportation throughout the region. Through these coordinated efforts, the RTA is committed to advancing transit-oriented development in our region.

Performance Measures

In coordination with CTA, Metra, and Pace, the RTA has developed performance measurements and reporting programs to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of public transit in Northeastern Illinois.

Electrification and Commuter Rail Workshop
IThe workshop featured presentations by industry experts from around the world who spoke about the benefits, costs and impacts of commuter rail electrification. Case studies evaluating the opportunities for electrification in Toronto and Denver were also presented.
