The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) announced the appointment of Anthony K. Anderson and Christopher C. Melvin, Jr., both of Chicago, as its newest board members, representing the City of Chicago. Mr. Anderson will replace Director André Rice, and Mr. Melvin replaces Director Samuel M. Mencoff, each serving the remainder of their predecessor’s term.

Mr. Anderson is the retired Vice Chair and Midwest Managing Partner of Ernst & Young LLP, a global leader in professional services with worldwide annual revenues of nearly $23 billion. During his 35-year career at Ernst & Young, Mr. Anderson most recently led a practice of more than 4,000 assurance, tax, advisory and transaction professionals across a 13-state region. He served as the senior advisory partner on several clients including Aon, McDonald’s, Whirlpool and Target.

Mr. Anderson also serves as a board trustee for The Field Museum, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera, World Business Chicago and is the chairman of the board of the Chicago Urban League. Mr. Anderson is a member of the American, California and Illinois Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Chicago State University.

Mr. Melvin is the Chairman and CEO of Melvin & Company, a Chicago-based institutional research and trading firm that he founded in 1989. He previously served on the Board of Governors for both the Chicago Stock Exchange and Boston Stock Exchange. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors for the Securities Industry Association (SIA) (now SIFMA). Mr. Melvin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from American University in Washington, D.C.

Directors Anderson and Melvin are scheduled to attend their first RTA board meeting on September 14.
