The Field Museum

The Field was founded to house the biological and anthropological collections assembled in Chicago for the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. These objects form the core of the Museum's Collections which have grown through expeditions, exchange, purchase and gifts to more than 20 million specimens.

The Field Museum hosts some of Chicago's most popular special and permanent exhibits including, SUE, the largest, most complete and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex fossil yet discovered. The museum is part of a lakefront Museum Campus that includes the John G. Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium and is easily reached via public transit.
